Summary Description Under direction of the school principal, provides a developmentally appropriate balanced literacy program for primary grade students. Provides explicit reading instruction and support to small groups of students (15 or less) to ensure Success for every Student. Knowledgeable about all components of a primary reading program including guided reading, independent literacy centers, word work, shared reading, read aloud, independent reading, and modeled/shared/guided writing. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical social and emotional growth of each student. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities. Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement. Job Specific Information The wage range for this position is a salary between $33,345 and $67,873 based on education and experience. Education Training Experience Bachelor^s degree in early childhood education, elementary education or reading from an accredited college or university.Certificate License:Meets Maryland state certification requirements in early childhood or elementary education.
