Summary Description
Under direction of the school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure Success for Every Student. Supervises students in a variety of school related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

Special Requirements
- Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by MCEA contract.
Job Specific Information
- The wage range for this position is a salary between $66,690 and $135,745 based on education and experience.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Graphic Design Teacher
- Develops and delivers a hands-on, project-based curriculum focused on digital illustration, commercial art, layout design, and typography.
- Manages a computer lab studio.
- Aligns lessons with state CTE standards.
- Prepares students for industry success.
- Core focus is preparing students for Adobe Certified Professional certifications.
- Manages the program's official articulation and proficiency credit pathway with Montgomery College.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
- Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Education, Training, Experience
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university required.
- Foundation office programs requirements: Secondary school diploma with at least five years of full-time industry experience in the discipline to be taught within the last 10 years, or a bachelors degree in education with demonstrated industry experience is required.
- Industry licensures and/or industry certification preferred.
- Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
