About the Role

Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides English language development (ELD) instruction for students identified as eligible for ELD services through the state-mandated English language proficiency test. Collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers, and other school staff to address the needs of Emergent Multilingual Learner (EML) students. Serves as a resource for information on EML students, cultural and linguistic differences, English language development, and the ELD instructional program. Provides support to explain the ELD program to parents and acts as a resource for students, parents, staff, and the community as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver ELD instruction to eligible students.
• Collaborate with school staff to support EML students’ academic and cultural adjustment.
• Serve as a resource for staff, parents, and the community regarding ELD programs and student needs.
• Provide information and guidance on cultural and linguistic differences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.
• Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors, and other school staff.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Ability to support students in adjusting to the academic and cultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency in another language in addition to English.

Pay

Salary range: $66,690 – $135,745, based on education and experience.

Schedule

• Full-time position.
• 10-month working schedule.
• Day shift.
