Join EY and help to build a better working world. Our Fiduciary/Trust Tax Services team supports clients in the financial services industry, including banking, wealth management, insurance, and real estate.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Spend time on diverse projects, supporting client engagements by interacting with team members, producing quality work products, and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide advice and assistance to clients regarding risks and potential tax advisory or compliance services.
  • Perform tax research and prepare written tax advice, tax information statements, and tax returns, including complex forms like 1041 and state income tax returns for trusts and estates.
  • Review and interpret wills and trust documents to determine fiduciary tax reporting requirements, confirm beneficiary allocations, and identify matters requiring additional research.
  • Translate complex data into client-ready insights and deliverables to support informed decision-making.
  • Support billing and collections for tax compliance and related services, participate in contract renewals and new business pursuits, and train less experienced team members on administrative tasks and the tax compliance process.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to analyze tax issues, determine alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
  • Communicate with client tax liaisons, trust administration teams, and trust officers to gather information, share insights, and obtain necessary instructions or authorizations.
  • Manage workflow to meet clients' needs and expectations, and complete special projects.
  • Use strong analytical skills and attention to detail to address complex tax issues and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, understand their unique needs, and provide tailored services.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, assist with a variety of projects of varying complexities, and assist with billing and collections.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional services or tax services organization, preparing federal and state fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and knowledge of trust accounting systems and tax software applications like ONESOURCE™ Trust Tax.
  • Experience preparing income tax returns with complex pass-through investments, reading and interpreting trust agreements, and understanding taxation, trusts, and estates, as well as fiduciary and income tax law.
  • CPA or EA certification or membership in The Bar (desired, but not required).
