Summary Description Of Classification

This paraeducator performs a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP). The paraeducator may be required to participate with students in learning activities off school grounds, assist students with various needs related to academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support, facilitate the student mastery of grade-level curriculum or mastery of Alternate Academic Achievement Standards, and manage behaviors that impact the student’s ability to access the curriculum. The paraeducator works in general education classes and/or specialized instructional settings throughout the school day and may be pulled out for individualized or small group reinforcement of instruction. This position also performs a variety of instructional and classroom management supports, as well as related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in all classrooms or learning environments.

Physical Demands

• Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.

Special Requirements

• Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.
• Outside duty may be required.
• Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling and change of location and/or program, as needed.

Job Specific Information

• This school is a Title I school.
• To be eligible for this paraeducator position, the candidate must already have uploaded to their profile:
• unofficial university transcript with 48+ credits OR
• If your degree or credits were attained from outside the United States, provide us with an official transcript that has been evaluated through an agency approved by the Maryland State Department of Education OR
• unofficial ParaPro Assessment result with a passing score

Wage Range

The wage range for this position is between $26.23 and $40.17 per hour, based on years of service.
