Summary Description

This paraeducator performs a variety of tasks to promote student learning and well-being, supporting students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP). They may assist students in learning activities off school grounds and provide support in areas like academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support. The paraeducator works in general education classes and specialized settings, facilitating mastery of grade-level curriculum or alternate standards, and managing behaviors that affect learning.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates student mastery of grade-level curriculum or alternate academic achievement standards
  • Assists with learning activities off school grounds
  • Supports students with various needs including academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support
  • Performs instructional and classroom management supports
  • Supports teachers and other professional staff in all classrooms or learning environments
  • May assist with implementing the instructional program and monitoring student behavior
  • Supports special education services such as PEP, Transition, DHOH, Speech, Vision, Physical Impairments, Elementary Learning Center, Bridge, Autism Resource Services (ARS), Autism Connections

Requirements

  • Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds may be required
  • Outside duty may be required
  • Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling and change of location and/or program, as needed
  • Continues planned instructional activities during teacher's temporary absence from the classroom

Special Requirements

  • Frequent overtime or night work required
  • Must be able to interact with and support students with special needs
  • Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software such as Google Workspace, MS Office and web-based instructional tools
  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn and meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS)

Job Specific Information

  • Wage range: $25.40 - $38.15 per hour
