Summary Description

This paraeducator supports students who are diploma bound by performing various tasks that promote learning and well-being. The focus is on helping students master grade-level or above curriculum, often in general education settings but occasionally in small groups. Responsibilities include classroom management, instructional support, and related clerical duties.

Physical Demands

• Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.
• Outside duty may be required.

Special Requirements

• Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling and changes in location or program.
• Continues planned instructional activities during teacher's temporary absence from the classroom.

Wage Range

The wage range for this position is between $24.38 and $35.02 per hour, based on years of service.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and policies of Montgomery County Public Schools.
• Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and monitor student behavior.
• Patience and effective communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks.
• Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software, including Google Workspace, MS Office, and web-based instructional tools.
• Knowledge of and ability to quickly learn the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education, Training, And Experience

• High school diploma required.
• One of the following:
• Absorbed Associates or higher college degree.
• At least 48 credits of study at an accredited institution of higher education.
• A passing grade on the ?Para Pro? examination.
