About the role

This position involves sponsoring the Flag Corps and serving as an athletics coach at Springbrook High School. The coach is hired for one season by the school principal or designee.

Responsibilities

• Sponsor the Flag Corps
• Serve as an athletics coach for one season
• Complete the MCPS online application
• Complete or be enrolled in the MCPS course “Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED”
• Follow MCPS coaching policies and emergency‑coach guidelines as applicable

Requirements

• Be interviewed and hired by the principal or designee
• Be a qualified MCPS teacher or professional certified educator if available
• If no qualified MCPS teacher is available, may be hired as an Emergency Coach (Level I or Level II) meeting the respective criteria
• Complete/submit the online MCPS application
• Have completed or be enrolled in the two‑credit MCPS course “Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED”
• For Level I Emergency Coach: hold a teaching certification (not necessarily MCPS‑employed)
• For Level II Emergency Coach: be a high school graduate and at least 21 years of age
