Coaching positions are hired for one season and must be filled by qualified MCPS teachers or professional certified educators when available. If no qualified candidate is available, emergency coaches may be hired.
Coach Certification Requirements
- Must be an MCPS teacher or professional certified educator employed by MCPS
- Must have completed or be enrolled in the two-credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED" (offered periodically through the MCPS Athletics Unit)
- Must complete and submit the online MCPS application
Emergency Coach Requirements
Level I Emergency Coach
- Must be a certified teacher (though not employed by MCPS)
- Must have completed the two-credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED"
- Must complete and submit the online MCPS application
Level II Emergency Coach
- Must be a high school graduate
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have completed the two-credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED"
- Must complete and submit the online MCPS application
Pay
The wage range for this assignment is between $18.00 and $ per hour. The exact wage depends on multiple factors including but not limited to: the nature of the project, prior experience in MCPS, and current negotiated agreements.
Schedule
- This is a Temporary Part-Time (TPP) position that does not include benefits.
- Part-time hours, primarily evenings.
- Working months vary (seasonal).
