Future Opening: CNC Setup Machinist
About the role
Custom Cylinders, Inc. is seeking a CNC Setup/Operator to join an experienced team in a dynamic and action-oriented Continuous Improvement environment. The position involves setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce parts to print specifications. Key responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings, setting up and operating various CNC machines, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean work area.
Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings to understand tolerances of the parts to be machined.
- Interpret setup documentation and tooling sheets to setup a variety of jobs.
- Setup and operate CNC multi-turret and multi spindle lathes to meet parts per hour requirements.
- Perform quality checks and make necessary adjustments to hold dimensions and tolerances.
- Makes necessary offset and program adjustments or requests program updates from programmer in order to hold dimensions and tolerances to print specifications.
- Takes proper care of all tools and equipment.
- Performs daily preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five years prior machining experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
- Understanding of basic shop math including decimal/fraction conversion.
Qualifications
An ideal candidate should pay strong attention to detail, be committed to workplace safety, and maintain a constant quality mindset in all work. Experience setting up and maintaining Swiss lathes and other multi turret, multi-spindle lathes is a big plus.
