Furniture Asst

About the role

Assists assigned departments under the supervision of the assistant store manager or immediate supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Supplies the store with merchandise by sorting, packaging, and occasionally pricing donations for assigned departments.
• Displays merchandise in designated areas on the sales floor.
• Performs responsibilities of various departments when pricer is absent.
• Assures production department is clean and materials are stocked.
• Cleans personal work area daily to remove dust and damaged goods.
• Keeps sales floor shoppable by ragging, balancing, and rotating seasonal merchandise.
• Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including tasks outside the primary area of employment.

• Ability to recognize merchandise quality and price it competitively.
• Ability to make decisions about merchandise quality, whether merchandise is saleable, and when to reduce prices.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and present a positive company image.
• Ability to work as a productive team member.
• Experience working with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.
• Good judgment, energy for fast-paced work, and strong listening skills.

Physical Demands

• Works inside in a production and retail environment with exposure to temperature fluctuations.
• Regularly required to speak, hear, stand, and move throughout the store.
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds using upper body strength.
• Must be able to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds.
• Frequently uses a hand stapler to staple price tags to garments.
• May occasionally be exposed to dust from donations.
• Constantly standing, bending, stooping, walking, and lifting arms shoulder height or above.
