Furnace Operator S1 - 4th Shift (Onsite)

What You Will Do

• Perform various cleaning, monitoring and securing operations to assist in the set-up of a vacuum atomization furnace.
• Work from verbal and written instructions to perform repetitive tasks before, after and when required, during the atomization process.
• Absorb and prepare raw material charges, run the furnace control board, make minor repairs on the furnace, atomization chamber, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Clean the atomization chamber, carry out housekeeping duties.
• Assist in the removal and replacement of furnace lid and coils.
• Clean the interior of the furnace chamber and “O” ring seal.
• Clean raw material charge and transport to charge area.
• As directed, assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to furnace lid and tank.
• Utilize electric hoist to remove and replace furnace lid from furnace chamber.
• Clean inside of crucibles, patch cracks, and perform other repair tasks of crucible prior to next run.
• May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills.
• Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required.
• Adhere to all EH&S guidelines, including wearing of required personal protective equipment including a respirator & mask.

Qualifications You Must Have

• HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US)
• Strong attendance record
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Able to work hours outside of the regular shift
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Able to wear a respirator
