About the Role
As a Funeral Arranger at Carriage Services, you will perform a variety of tasks during the funeral and memorialization process to ensure services run smoothly and exceed the expectations of our client families and their guests. You will join a dynamic community dedicated to setting new standards in the Funeral and Cemetery profession.
Responsibilities
- Meets with client families to listen and assist in arranging personalized memorial services, under the direct supervision of a licensed funeral director.
- Understands and implements company-provided training to ensure all client families recognize service and merchandise options.
- Conducts and attends services and visitations on a regular basis.
- Works on-call/first call, as needed.
- Utilizes systems to review merchandise options, enter contracts, and complete necessary forms without supervision or assistance.
- Prepares the deceased: dressing and casketing.
- Places casket in visitation area, adjusts light fixtures, and arranges or supervises arrangement of flowers or plants.
- Directs and ushers families and service attendees to and from the location of the funeral service.
- Coordinates all service arrangements and details with clergy, presiding persons, fraternal or military organizations, and others who may participate in conducting the funeral service.
- Supervises and assists in the transportation of client families to ensure timely departure and arrival.
- Arranges and coordinates shipment of remains to and from other cities and locations.
- Contributes to the overall efficiency of the location by maintaining open and effective communication and accurate, timely client files.
- Acts to improve market share through participation in community events, groups, and/or organizations.
- Receives input and guidance from the Funeral Director on services and paperwork.
- Ensures proper paperwork, including permits and certificates, is completed timely in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Answers questions and assists with serving the needs of client families.
- Works independently with little or no supervision.
- Identifies and remedies all hazards on the grounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of Funeral Director or Funeral Arranger experience.
- Able to read, write, and speak English fluently—bilingual is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) preferred.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Duties are generally performed in an indoor office setting but may also be performed outdoors, exposing you to natural elements such as inclement weather, extreme temperatures, uneven ground, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity and comply with the Company’s safety procedures, including wearing any required personal protective equipment.
- Regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds; may be required to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Duties may require power reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Routine exposure to chemicals and/or bloodborne pathogens.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle, maintain a good driving record, and be insurable under company vehicle insurance.
Pay
$28 - $30 per hour
