About the role

The Fundraising Chair (Board Member) is a part-time, hybrid volunteer leadership role responsible for designing and guiding the organization’s fundraising strategy to sustain and grow PFLAG Los Angeles’s programs and services. This role oversees planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events, including online giving initiatives, donor appeals, and community-based activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead PFLAG LA's fundraising efforts: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support PFLAG LA's financial sustainability and growth.
• Collaborate closely with the Treasurer and President to set fundraising goals, develop messaging and materials, monitor progress against targets, and ensure alignment with PFLAG LA’s mission, values, and budget needs.
• Identify and cultivate potential donors and sponsors, coordinate outreach with board members and volunteers, and maintain strong relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation supporters.
• Build fundraising capacity across the organization by sharing best practices, training volunteers, and strengthening systems for donor stewardship and reporting.

Qualifications

• Fundraising and development skills, including experience with donor cultivation, donor stewardship, and relationship management.
• Strategic planning and financial acumen to set fundraising goals, track performance, and support budget and resource decisions.
• Communication and storytelling skills to craft compelling donor messages, presentations, and outreach materials that reflect PFLAG LA’s mission.
• Collaboration and leadership abilities to work effectively with a volunteer board, community partners, and diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to LGBTQ+ equality, inclusive practices, and culturally competent engagement with families and communities.
• Prior nonprofit fundraising, board service, or community organizing experience is highly beneficial; familiarity with the Los Angeles philanthropic landscape is a plus.

Schedule
