Partner with the best The Funding & Strategic Research Engineer supports the development and execution of externally funded research and innovation initiatives that advance Baker Hughes technology and business objectives. This role works closely with internal stakeholders, universities, research institutions, and funding agencies to secure funding opportunities, coordinate projects, and support the successful delivery of strategic research programs. You will play an important role in connecting innovation activities with external funding ecosystems while contributing to technology development, research partnerships, and long-term business growth. As a Funding & Strategic Research Engineer, you will be responsible for: Leading the preparation of funding proposals, including technical documentation, project schedules, budgets, and coordination with internal and external stakeholdersSupporting the execution of funded research projects by tracking project activities, milestones, deliverables, and timelinesDriving project reporting activities and maintaining project documentation in accordance with funding requirements and contractual obligationsSupporting financial monitoring activities, including project expenditure tracking and compliance reviewsLeading communications with assigned external stakeholders and coordinating internal communications throughout project executionMonitoring funding opportunities and researching programs aligned with business and technology prioritiesSupporting data collection and analysis related to research ecosystems, funding trends, and strategic collaboration opportunitiesManaging engagement with assigned universities and research organizations while identifying opportunities for technology development and collaborationParticipating in workshops, meetings, conferences, and events related to innovation and funded research initiativesEnsuring compliance with company policies, funding regulations, and contractual requirementsPreparing presentations, executive summaries, and status reports for internal leadership and project stakeholdersContributing to continuous improvement initiatives related to proposal development, project management, and funding processes Fuel your passion To be successful in this role you will: Have a Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited university or collegeHave 2–5 years of experience in engineering, technology development, research projects, or related activities within the energy sector or similar industriesDemonstrate a strong interest in innovation, research and development, and public funding programsPossess strong written and verbal communication skillsHave excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyDemonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilitiesBe able to work effectively in a collaborative, multicultural, and team-oriented environmentShow a willingness to learn project management methodologies and funding program requirements Desired Characteristics PhD from an accredited institutionExperience supporting research projects, university collaborations, or publicly funded initiativesBasic understanding of project management principles and methodologiesInterest in emerging technologies, innovation trends, and technology commercializationDemonstrated ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholdersStrong attention to detail and a proactive, self-motivated learning mindsetExperience working within cross-functional teamsFamiliarity with public funding programs and research grant frameworks Work in a way that works for you We recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
