About the Role

As a Part-Time Visiting Professor, you will inspire nursing students to achieve their educational and career goals while enjoying a flexible schedule, strong mentorship, and opportunities for career growth. This role involves teaching in a clinical setting with one of our partners, fostering "a-ha" moments that shape students' professional lives. The institution provides support through professor mentorship, student-led study groups, and clinical networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
• Assume responsibility for autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads, including planning and supervising clinical experiences.
• Provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering patient care.
• Make yourself available to staff at clinical agencies and maintain current knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
• Evaluate and document student performance based on course objectives, providing remediation as needed.
• Develop and post clinical assignments tailored to students’ knowledge, skills, and learning needs.
• Correct and return student work (e.g., homework, quizzes, tests) in a timely manner.
• Contribute to program development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Teach didactic course content under the supervision of a course coordinator, keeping them informed of student and agency issues.
• Collaborate with administration, staff, and faculty to improve college operations and student satisfaction.
• Participate in assessment programs, retention efforts, and policy implementation.
• Serve as a professional role model in areas such as communication, collaboration, and professionalism.
• Utilize relationship skills for group problem-solving, consensus-building, and negotiation.
• Comply with all regulatory rules and standards.
• Report to the dean or assistant dean, with additional oversight from a course coordinator.

Requirements

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
• An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of New Hampshire (Illinois RN license required to teach all courses; assignments prioritized for those currently licensed in Illinois).
• At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
• Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule

Teaching is onsite in a clinical setting with one of our partners. The schedule typically involves 12-hour rotations (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) for three to four consecutive days.

Course Focus

Fundamental Nursing Skills: Content focuses on health promotion and the rehabilitative aspects of patient care. Students provide direct patient care while acquiring skills and concepts of professional nursing, utilizing the nursing process to implement basic aspects of practice.

Pay

The expected compensation rate for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education, experience, and other job-related factors such as course type, geographic location, and departmental budgets.
