Fund Accountant (Hybrid)
We are on the lookout for a dynamic Senior Accountant or Fund Accountant to join our fast-paced Real Estate and Investment Management industry team. This is a permanent, hybrid role that combines remote and in-office work, with office locations in Annapolis, DC, or Baltimore.
About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and controlling Fund Accounting transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong Fund Accounting background, public accounting experience, a CPA, and/or property/real estate accounting.
Responsibilities
- Support all aspects related to Fund Accounting
- Perform month-end closing activities such as reconciliations and journal entries
- Coordinate with finance team to complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines
- Generate client billing and conduct account reconciliation promptly and accurately
- Evaluate computerized accounting systems and provide recommendations to IT team for performance improvements
- Generate financial reports and statements to Managers for review
- Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions
- Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues and determine budget variances and report the same to management
- Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion
- Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts
- Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations
- Conduct periodical reviews for insurance, tax, VAT and other related compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in accounting or related field
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Deep knowledge of best practices in accounting and financial management
- Familiarity with fund accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, payables coding, and foreign exchange calculations
- Experience with Yardi or equivalent software is a must
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for numbers
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
- Adherence to laws and confidentiality guidelines
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus

Pay
$75,000 - $95,000 per year, plus a 10% bonus.
