Key Responsibilities
- Define optimal locations for security cameras and emergency call boxes based on environmental conditions, crime data, and industry standards.
- Create and maintain detailed maps and documentation of surveillance assets.
- Assist in the deployment and integration of police technologies such as: Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), Real-Time Crime Centers (RTCC), Body-Worn Camera Systems, Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), Public Safety Drones and UAS, Facial Recognition Systems, Access Control Systems.
- Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements.
- Analyze crime trends, incident reports, and surveillance data to support technology placement and usage.
- Generate reports and visualizations to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
- Work with law enforcement personnel to understand operational needs.
- Collaborate with university departments and University Information Technology for technology deployment.
- Ensure compliance with privacy laws, data retention policies, and public safety regulations.
- Participate in planning, budgeting, and implementation of security technology projects.
- Strong working knowledge of DORI analysis and its application in surveillance planning.
- Familiarity with public safety technologies and their operational use.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Experience with Video Management Systems.
Required Information
- Valid Texas Driver’s License before receiving job offer.
- Available to work additional shifts and assignments.
- Prior to an interview, must pass a Criminal History and valid Driver’s License check.
- Prior to employment, must pass a Background Investigation.
- Prior to employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with municipal or public sector security planning.
- Knowledge of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles.
- Proficiency in GIS/mapping tools and surveillance system platforms.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
