Fume Hood Specialist

This position offers a sign-on bonus of $6,283, paid in two installments: $3,141.50 within 30 days of hire and $3,141.50 twelve months after hire.

About the role

This position focuses on the design, specification, installation, maintenance, and operation of assigned brands and generations of Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems. The role involves developing and debugging building-level system architectures, including interfaces between varying protocols and manufacturers. Work includes highly complex and specialized tasks on DDC control systems for critical applications such as operating rooms, biosafety labs, art museums, repositories, and data centers, where environmental control is mission-critical. The position also supports maintenance and service contracts for laboratory containment equipment, including chemical fume hoods and biological safety cabinets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled quality-control inspections of work performed by equipment contractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Coordinate and attend site visits with contractors, noting deficiencies identified during inspections.
• Initiate appropriate documentation to resolve deficiencies and utilize the work management system to direct service orders for repairs and corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to other technicians to ensure they have the necessary programming tools and resources.
• Make strategically focused recommendations to management to refine controls strategy.
• Participate in technical meetings.

Requirements

• Valid NC Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to the start date.
• Universal Refrigerant Certification or Type I and II Refrigerant Certification required within 90 days of hire.
