Full Venue
About the venue
Matterhorn Restaurant & Bakery offers a one-of-a-kind private event experience in San Francisco’s upscale Marina/Cow Hollow neighborhood at 2323 Van Ness Avenue. Housed in a charming Swiss chalet-style building adorned with knotty wood paneling, vintage ski decor, and even a gondola chair for two, the venue transports guests to the Alps, complete with a whimsical miniature train diorama winding past painted mountain scenes.
The interior features evenly paced lighting that highlights cozy booths and communal tables, creating an inviting and intimate atmosphere, especially suited for small-group gatherings, birthday dinners, or après-concert nights at nearby venues like The Masonic and Fillmore.
Cuisine
The cuisine centers on authentic Alpine comfort food such as melted cheese fondues, gooey raclette, crispy schnitzel, hearty beef and onion soups, all complemented by carefully curated Swiss and Old/New World wines, beers, and chocolate fondue desserts.
The attached bakery adds an extra touch, providing freshly baked sourdough, pastries, and specialty breads that pair wonderfully with gooey fondue or make delightful to-go boxes for larger gatherings.
Getting there
By public transit, the restaurant is easily accessible via Muni bus route 49, stopping just steps away. Street parking is available on Van Ness and nearby side streets, though it can be limited. For events, ride sharing or Muni are recommended to avoid the stress of finding a spot.
