Full Time Teacher - Modern Languages Department (French)
The Institution
Fordham Prep is a Catholic Jesuit college preparatory school founded in 1841. It is located on the Rose Hill Bronx campus adjacent to Fordham University in New York City. With approximately 950 students enrolled in grades 9-12, Fordham Prep serves students from diverse backgrounds in the boroughs of New York City and its surrounding suburbs.
The Position
Fordham Prep seeks a full-time Modern Languages teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year, with need in the area of French. The position entails teaching five class sections. The ideal applicant should be fluent in French and possess at least a bachelor's degree in the subject area, however a master's degree is preferred. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency with current world language methodologies, the ability to teach across the various levels of the curriculum, a willingness to collaborate with others, and strong classroom management skills. They should also have teaching experience at the high school level and familiarity with standards from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF) exams. The ability to teach other modern or classical languages would be an asset. Other languages offered at the Prep include Mandarin, Italian, Spanish, Latin, and Ancient Greek.
Qualifications
- Fluent in French
- At least a bachelor's degree in the subject area, preferably a master's degree
- Teaching experience at the high school level
- Familiarity with ACTFL and DELF exams
- Ability to teach other modern or classical languages (asset)
Responsibilities

Pay
The salary is set by the faculty scale based on academic credentials and teaching experience (range $65-92K).
Schedule
The position is a 10-month tenure track faculty position (September to June) with all staff benefits, including medical, retirement, and tuition remission at Fordham Preparatory School and Fordham University.
