Estimated Store Manager Earning Potential Year 1: Up to $111,000 (inclusive of salary and bonus when applicable). Estimate may vary by location.
About the Role
As a Store Manager Trainee, you’ll train on all aspects of successfully running a store in preparation for managing your own store. You’ll be involved in supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, identifying staffing needs, managing schedules, and developing operational action plans while mentoring and developing the team.
Responsibilities
- Consistently demonstrate the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies, and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as outlined for the role.
- Supervise the day-to-day operations and performance of the team to provide the highest level of customer service.
- Understand the overarching company strategy, communicate and model core values to create teamwork among employees.
- Handle customer concerns and ensure appropriate resolution.
- Ensure proper store signage is maintained, as well as the quality and freshness of ALDI products.
- Assist in hiring store personnel by reviewing resumes, employment applications, and interviewing candidates.
- Prepare, manage, and revise weekly schedules to ensure appropriate store staffing levels.
- Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
- Conduct store meetings.
- Identify training and development opportunities to enhance performance.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations, recommending personnel for advancement or termination as appropriate.
- Achieve store payroll and total loss budgets.
- Manage cash audits in conjunction with your direct leader according to company guidelines.
- Monitor the competitive environment and make recommendations to maintain a competitive position.
- Provide product feedback, including recommendations for new items or discontinuations.
- Ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, and vendors by identifying hazards and maintaining equipment.
- Oversee product merchandising and maintain proper stock levels through appropriate ordering.
- Conduct store inventory counts and reconciliations according to company guidelines.
- Comply with all established company policies and procedures while upholding security and confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stock merchandise from store receiving to shelving; place product weighing up to 45 pounds on shelving at various heights.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk about the store.

- Meets any state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment.
- A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
- Prior management experience preferred.
Travel
Full-Time Store Manager Trainees will often train at multiple locations and must have flexibility to travel within divisional requirements.
