About the role
This position assists the Unit Manager in creating an environment that promotes teamwork, continuous improvement, learning, customer satisfaction, excellent quality of product, and high standards of service. The role involves managing staff, planning schedules, and ensuring proper operations.
Responsibilities
- Hiring and disciplining employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, evaluating performance, and directing work assignments.
- Preparing daily sales reports, adjusting staffing and inventory levels based on sales volume, and planning work schedules.
- Generating sales promotion activities, preparing or directing merchandising and stocking of the location, and assisting in training crew leads on proper product storage and rotation.
- Resolving customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction, supervising and training employees, and overseeing daily unit operations.
- Ensuring adherence to Starbucks standards and maintaining proper display and timing of promotions.
- Maintaining working relationships with customers, coworkers, vendors, and university personnel.
- Complying with company policies and laws, including safety and health regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with one or more years of experience in mid to high volume convenience retail and/or supervisory experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Convenience and Retail experience preferred.
- Food Handler’s certificate from the County of San Diego preferred.
- Strong communications, supervisory, and mathematical skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: One or more years of experience in mid to high volume convenience retail and/or supervisory experience.
- Education: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred education: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Convenience and Retail experience.
- Preferred certification: Food Handler’s certificate from the County of San Diego.

Pay
Compensation ranges from $25.00 to $27.00 per hour, contingent on factors such as experience, training, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and operational needs. Additional information about compensation scales is available at: www.aztecshops.com/employment.
Schedule
Flexible schedule based on operational needs, including opening, mid-day, and closing shifts, as well as night shifts, weekends, and holidays throughout the year.
