About the role
The Olympic Bar at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Full Time Server to join our dynamic team and assist our guests during dinner service. This position offers competitive compensation, including a starting hourly wage of $21.30 plus tips, and benefits such as an employee travel program, parking/commuting discounts, health insurance, and more.
Responsibilities
- Familiar with all menus including wine and beverage lists
- Resets dining room according to meal period and table needs
- Prepares condiments, polishes glassware and silver ware, brews coffee, and ensures work stations are stocked
- Informs and promotes guests of daily/nightly specials
- Offers creative selling of products to guests
- Answers questions and/or makes recommendations on menus items
- Explains how various menu items are prepared, describes cooking methods and ingredients
- Takes into consideration any special request, dietary issues made by the guests
- Describes and recommends wine pairings to guests
- Buys wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pours the wine for guests
- Ensures final quality check on food and beverage prior to serving guests
- Clear, clean, resets, and maintains station during shift
- Serves food and beverages to guests and adheres to the steps of service
- Follows all proper credit card and cash handling procedures
- Addresses any guest issue promptly and with concern
- Provides assistance to restaurant staff as needed
Requirements
- Must hold authorization to work in the USA
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid Washington State Alcohol MAST Permit (Class 13)
- Must possess a valid Washington Food Worker Card
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
- Able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least two years high volume restaurant serving experience preferred
- Luxury dining experience preferred
- General knowledge of Alcoholic beverages
- Working knowledge of wine & wine-pairings; Advanced knowledge preferred
