Full-Time Server Assistant - Carpenter Hotel
About the Role
Carpenters Hall is looking for an enthusiastic Full-Time Server Assistant to join the team. A Server Assistant will assist food service employees in delivering food to tables, maintain cleanliness, and attend to needs behind the bar. Responsibilities include cleaning tables, carrying dirty dishes, replacing soiled table linens, setting tables, replenishing supplies of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes, and serving water, appetizers, and coffee to patrons.
The person in this position must have excellent communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. A Server Assistant must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.
About Us
Opened in fall 2018, Carpenter Hotel is a South Austin hotel integrated with its lush surroundings. The hotel features a pool with a community deck and Q Hut pavilion, and each of its 93 rooms includes a terrace. Guests can enjoy fare from the all-day Coffee Bar or dine on the patio or in the dining rooms of Carpenters Hall. The hotel is nestled in an old pecan grove on the edge of Zilker Park in South Austin, within easy walking distance of Lady Bird Lake and downtown.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to dress code policies during shift
- Run in-room dining
- Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties to facilitate customer service
- Ensure immediate response to guest comments and concerns; inform supervisor and assist in implementing corrective measures
- Maintain adequate supplies of clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
- Stock beverage and ice dispensers, cabinets, and serving areas
- Replenish supplies of food and equipment at service bars and satellite service stations
- Stock refrigerating units with wines and bottled beer, and replace empty beer kegs
- Set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies
- Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
- Clean tables, counters, shelves, walls, furniture, and equipment in food service areas and other restaurant areas; mop and vacuum floors
- Wash glasses and other serving equipment at bars
- Clean up spilled food, drink, and broken dishes; remove empty bottles and trash
- Serve ice water, coffee, and standard appetizers (e.g., bread/butter or chips/salsa) to patrons
- Assist in ensuring guests receive their food in a timely manner
- Maintain open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, and meetings
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
- Maintain awareness of safety issues, emergency procedures, and OSHA requirements
- Attend relevant meetings
- Adhere to all operational standards, policies, procedures, manuals, training materials, memos, and verbal instructions
- Perform additional duties as needed to meet fluctuating operational demands and exceed customer expectations
Requirements
- Six (6) months of related experience in hospitality or the service industry
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- TABC and ServSafe certification required
