Full Time RN-Day Shift-Assisted Living
About the Role
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community, and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to provide high-quality, holistic nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards and healthcare regulations governing professional nursing. The RN leads or directs licensed and non-professional staff in delivering direct resident care and support functions.
Responsibilities
- Nursing Care Functions
- Conduct daily nursing functions in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines for long-term care facilities/assisted living communities.
- Ensure compliance with written policies and procedures, including the safety program, for all assigned nursing personnel.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents with proper documentation of care and services provided.
- Participate in the orientation of new residents and family members to the facility.
- Make rounds with healthcare providers as needed.
- Utilize nursing personnel qualifications according to resident care plans, service plans, and healthcare provider orders.
- Communication/Documentation Functions
- Complete daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care and report significant events.
- Resolve issues with residents and/or family members and report significant concerns to the supervisor.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) as requested by management.
- Responsible for clinical programs such as dementia care, wound care, quality assurance, infection control, and admissions.
- Complete initial assessments and assist in developing interim care/service plans.
- Update, review, and transcribe care plans based on nursing needs and new healthcare provider orders.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to review treatment plans, complete orders, and progress notes.
- Review resident medical records for treatments, medication orders, diets, and labs for implementation and follow-up.
- Requisition and arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Communicate department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, and visitors.
- Provide written (24-hour report) and oral reports on resident condition changes and shift activities to nursing management.
- Complete accident/incident reports and submit them to the Director of Nursing.
- Ensure clinically accurate documentation according to policy.
- Review interdisciplinary team progress notes to verify care plan adherence and report concerns.
- Inform nursing personnel of new admissions and resident care needs.
- Prepare rooms for new admissions and greet newly admitted residents.
- Notify attending healthcare practitioners and family members of changes in resident condition.
- Assist in arranging transportation and third-party services for residents.
- Medication Administration Functions
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Maintain an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment.
- Review medication administration records for completeness and accuracy.
- Dispose of drugs and narcotics according to established procedures.
- Personnel Functions
- Supervise the nursing unit to ensure personnel perform work assignments according to acceptable nursing standards.
- Work with the Director of Nursing to resolve staff performance issues, including those leading to termination.
- Review complaints and grievances, collaborating with the Director of Nursing for resolution.
- Safety and Sanitation Functions
- Ensure protective equipment is available for staff.
- Maintain clean and sanitary nursing service work areas, resident rooms, and treatment areas.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing.
- Maintain stock levels of medications, medical supplies, and equipment to meet resident needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for the position.
- Possess a current, unencumbered, active RN license in the applicable state, in good standing throughout employment with no disciplinary action.
- One year of experience in nursing within a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility is preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Physical Requirements
- Walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
- Sustain repetitive movements (e.g., CPR compressions, bagging).
- Maintain physical tolerance to stand, walk, or work on your feet for 8-12 hours with minimal breaks.
- Lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds at times.

- Execute tasks independently.
- Express yourself clearly and effectively.
- Environmental Requirements
- Potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
- Exposure to ambient room temperatures and lighting.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position requires the RN to ensure resident care is provided per standards of practice following facility policies and procedures by CNAs/Caregivers, though CNAs/Caregivers do not directly report to them.
