About the role

Healogics is the largest provider of advanced wound care services in the United States, treating more than 300,000 chronic wound patients annually across over 600 sites. With an aging society, rising rates of obesity and diabetes, and an increase in surgical procedures, the number of patients with non-healing wounds is growing. The company is expanding access to its differentiated, quality care through outpatient clinic partnerships.

Under the direction of the Wound Care Center Clinical Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse (RN) primarily provides patient care and manages intake and discharge processes for Wound Care Center patients as scheduled. The position may also serve as a Case Manager for a group of assigned patients, depending on the center’s setup.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care to Wound Care Center patients and handles patient intake and discharge processes according to hospital and nursing standards.
  • Assists in vein clinic as assigned after completing Healogics Vein Clinic training.
  • May serve as Case Manager to a group of patients, including:
    • Performing the initial nursing assessment, communicating findings with the assigned physician, assessing wound stage and measurements, and documenting care plans.
    • Evaluating patient status in relation to desired outcomes and identifying situations requiring intervention.
    • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, providing education to patients or caregivers, and serving as a patient advocate in care delivery and coordination.
  • Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned, upon completion of Healogics hyperbaric training.
  • May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing required Healogics training.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers, Wound Care Center Providers, the Program Director, and the Medical Director regarding clinic and patient needs.
  • May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current RN license in the state of practice, maintained throughout employment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Medical Surgical, Home Health, or Wound Care Certification preferred.
  • Wound care experience preferred.

Skills

  • Demonstrated competency in BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory and accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex terms into layman’s language and presentation skills.
  • Customer service and follow-up skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Teaching skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of computerized nursing systems.

Physical Demands

  • Being in a stationary position for extended periods (4 hours or more).
  • Repetitive motions.

  • Detecting sounds by ear and writing.
  • Close, distance, and peripheral vision.

  • Viewing a computer screen for extended periods (4 hours or more).
  • Keying frequently on a computer for 4 hours or more.

Work Environment

  • Patient care environment with proximity to moving objects.
  • Exposure to hazards (bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, toxic chemicals, flammable/explosive gases, etc.).

Pay

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $37.78 and $47.61 per hour. This range is an estimate based on potential employee qualifications, including education, experience, geography, and operational needs.
