(Full-time) Pool & Laundry Worker

Shasta College sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. About the role

This position maintains the District's pool and laundry equipment, launders clothing, P.E. equipment, and linen, and ensures the District's swimming pools remain clean and sanitary. Employees receive general supervision within standard policies and procedures and train, direct, and monitor student assistants.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair laundry equipment including washer-extractor, dryer, and associated equipment.
• Pick up, launder, sort, fold, and deliver clothing, P.E. equipment, and linens for campus departments.
• Maintain swimming pools, equipment, and surrounding areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
• Maintain proper chemical and temperature balance of pool water according to established standards.
• Vacuum and brush swimming pools; clean, sweep, and hose down pool deck and seating areas.
• Backwash filters and clean holding tanks.
• Check athletic equipment in and out.
• Train, direct, and monitor student laundry helpers.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Two years' experience with machinery, plumbing, boilers, and pumps.
• Preferred experience in maintenance and repair of pool and laundry machinery.
• High school graduation or equivalent.

Skills

• Operation and basic maintenance/repair of pool and laundry equipment.
• Basic plumbing and electrical principles and procedures.
• Safe use and storage of chlorine and other pool chemicals.
• Basic laundry products and techniques.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to train, direct, and monitor student assistants.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships.

Schedule

40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Work assignment hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

Pay

Range 29 on the current Classified Salary Schedule. New classified appointments start at Step 1 and advance to the next step on July 1st if hired before January 1st, with annual step increases up to a maximum 21st step.
