Summary
The Title I Parent Liaison works under the supervision of the principal and the Director of Student, School and Community Services to enhance parent and community involvement in the York City School District.
Essential Functions And Performance Responsibilities
- Work as a liaison between the school and parents/families.
- Attend monthly meetings and in-service training with the Director of Student, School and Community Services.
- Attend meetings and in-service training with the Federal Program Coordinator as needed.
- Deliver training to the parent community.
- Attend school and community meetings.
- Make personal contact with parents to encourage parental engagement.
- Provide information to parents/families to improve home-school communication.
- Collaborate with the district's Director of Student, School and Community Services and Federal Program Coordinator to prepare progress reports and disseminate essential Title I information.
- Investigate complaints from parents/families and the community.
- Aid building-level Parent Advisory Councils in drafting and completing Parent Compacts and Parent Policies.
- Assist the District-Wide Parent Advisory Council in drafting and updating the district Parent Policy.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, with a preference for 2 years of college level education.
- Five years of experience working with parents and community members.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with proficiency in a second language preferred.
- Pre-employment drug testing, Child Abuse, PA State Police and FBI Clearances, and Act 126 & 71 and Bloodborne Pathogens certification required.
