Responsibilities

• Clean assigned interior areas: hallways, restrooms, offices, classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, and other designated spaces.
• Maintain exterior areas: school perimeter, parking lot, playground, windows, and other assigned zones.
• Empty trash from all receptacles.
• Dust furniture, window sills, air vents, and other assigned areas.
• Clean and sterilize restroom facilities.
• Handle cleanup of bodily fluids (vomit, feces, urine, blood) following proper training and protocols.
• Assist with cafeteria cleanup: remove waste, clean tables, and maintain floor cleanliness.
• Sterilize high-use areas to prevent the spread of bacteria and harmful agents.
• Support the Head Custodian with cleaning projects and tasks.
• Assist in creating and implementing preventative maintenance processes for facility components.
• Travel to nearby schools or warehouse/storage as needed.
• Participate in training programs to enhance skills and proficiency.
• Stay updated on janitorial best practices and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as delegated by the Supervisor.
• Follow federal, state laws, and company policies.

Requirements

• Education: High school graduate with continuing education in construction or facilities-related fields.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of janitorial trade experience.
• Special Qualifications: Must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.

Work Environment

Typical school working conditions, which may include noisy environments during high student traffic.

Physical Demands

• Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects.
• Travel within or outside the state may be required.

FLSA Overtime Category

This is a non-exempt position, subject to the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
