Full-Time Lecturer, Graphic Design Program
SIGD is situated within Auburn University's College of Architecture, Design and Construction, an interdisciplinary environment that brings together architecture, landscape architecture, environmental design, building science, industrial design, and graphic design. The school supports design education that is experimental, research-driven, practice-informed, and engaged with contemporary social, environmental, and technological questions—and shares a culture of making, inquiry, and public engagement with other disciplines across the college.
About the role
This is a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer position beginning in August 2027. The initial appointment is for a three-year term with the possibility of multi-year extension. The successful candidate will specialize in teaching freshman-level Drawing, 2-D, and 3-D fundamentals that emphasize formal elements and principles of art and design, and will teach first-year courses to pre-graphic-design students within a professional degree program. Responsibilities are 95% teaching and 5% service.
Responsibilities
- Teach three studio courses (12 credit hours total) per semester.
- Participate in service activities that support students in the School of Industrial and Graphic Design.
Qualifications
- M.F.A. in Graphic Design, Studio Art, or related discipline from an accredited institution (required at time of employment).
- Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment and/or professional experience (desired).
- Recent M.F.A. graduates are encouraged to apply.
