Full Time Lead CT/Radiology Tech

To provide high-quality, patient-focused healthcare services within the scope of practice through physician orders in accordance with Texas State Laws and Regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and specific x-rays and CT scans for diagnostic purposes following prescribed techniques.
• Perform laboratory testing according to industry standards of practice and CLIA.
• Prepare patients for x-ray and CT scans, explain procedures, and prepare rooms, equipment, and materials.
• Position patients and arrange immobilization and support devices; practice radiation protection techniques.
• Adjust equipment controls, determine proper voltage, and exposure time; administer routine x-ray exams.
• Observe patients and machines during procedures; report unusual occurrences and record patient’s condition.
• Document procedures performed in patient charts; clean and disinfect radiology rooms and equipment.
• Maintain and order supplies for radiology; perform radiology quality assurance tests and maintain records.
• Assist with front-end registration or additional clerical duties as necessary.
• Perform laboratory duties including immunoassay testing, machine maintenance, and compliance with OSHA and CLIA/COLA standards.
• Prepare reports of machine assays for physician records; contact equipment servicers or consultants as needed.
• Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste per OSHA guidelines; maintain inventory of consumables and supplies.
• Provide patient care tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting with triage as delegated by the RN and physician.
• Support facility maintenance including emptying trash, unpacking linens, and keeping the facility tidy.
• Lead-specific duties:
  • Build and maintain the radiology staff schedule; cover unfilled shifts.
  • Ensure workload is evenly distributed among staff; coordinate coverage for call-ins and absences.
  • Communicate new processes; keep Nurse Manager and Regional Manager apprised of patient complaints and staff issues.
  • Serve as an expert resource for clinical or technical questions and patient concerns.
  • Complete Lead Lab Review daily; ensure lab and radiology inventory meets facility needs.
  • Maintain RSO binder and perform Monthly Radiology QC before the 10th of each month.
  • Ensure CT QCs are performed/sent to PACS daily (Siemens) or weekly (GE).
  • Manage dosimeter badges; review dosimeter reports for overexposures.
  • Ensure disinfection of ultrasound TV probe is followed and logged.
  • Work two scheduled weekend shifts per month; participate in monthly on-call rotation.
  • Travel to Surepoint locations, including corporate office, as needed.
  • Attend quarterly in-person meetings at the corporate office.
  • Assist in interviewing Radiology applicants; gather information for yearly evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Orient and train new Radiology staff; coordinate cleaning, stocking, and organizing of Rad/Lab areas.
  • Maintain state of readiness for Rad/Lab inspections.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
• Current ARRT License and Texas MRT License in good standing.
• Current BLS certification.
• At least 2 years of Radiology and CT experience; freestanding Emergency Center experience a plus.
• Clinical experience performing CT scanning; ability to perform CT procedures without constant supervision.
• Ability to assist with specialized procedures involving sterile techniques.
• Continuing education hours required for license renewal.
• Pass background check(s).
• Exceptional technical skills and ability to work with patients of all ages.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements regarding radiological procedures.
• Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining excellent patient care and customer service.
• Ability to work all shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with efficient time management skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Basic typing and computer proficiency; experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, EMR/EMP systems preferred.

Physical Demands

• Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Walking, standing, reaching, stooping, and depth perception.
• Ability to perform CPR and chest compressions.
• Ability to work with arms above head for extended periods while manipulating the x-ray tube.
• Handles multiple priorities; manages stress appropriately; works effectively alone and in close proximity to others.

Work Environment

• Exposure to chemical hazards as described in materials safety data sheets and in accordance with OSHA standards.
