This position serves in the Deaf Studies and Professional Studies (DSPS) Division in the College of Education (COE) at Western Oregon University (WOU) as a full-time instructional faculty member in Interpreting Studies.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching within the Interpreting Studies programs at WOU (undergraduate and/or graduate)
  • Academic advising of students
  • Service to one or more of the programs in the DSPS Division, COE, and WOU

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Interpreting, interpreter education, or related field
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education in interpreting, interpreter education, or related field
  • Effective written, verbal, and signed communication with colleagues, students, community members, staff, and other university personnel
  • Maintains professionalism in all interactions, safeguards confidential information, and collaborates with others in compliance with FERPA requirements
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, exercise sound judgement, and complete responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Collaborates effectively with individuals representing diverse backgrounds, work styles, and needs while adapting to changing priorities, goals, and organizational requirements

About the Programs

Western Oregon University offers an undergraduate degree in ASL/English Interpreting, and two graduate tracks for interpreters working with any language pairs: MAIS: Theory and Practice, and MAIS: Advanced and Teaching. All programs are online.
