About the role

St. Charles Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for a fixed-term (temporary) full-time Mathematics Faculty position for the Spring 2027 semester, beginning January 2027. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student learning, assessment, and the use of technology in instruction. They will assess student performance in coordination with other Mathematics department members to evaluate teaching effectiveness and student learning, with demonstrated success across varied student populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach transfer-level Mathematics courses, including College Algebra, Contemporary College Mathematics, and College Statistics
• Participate in College service and departmental activities
• Assess student performance and collaborate on evaluating teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes
• Course assignments will vary each semester based on departmental needs
• Maintain a teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Master's degree, M.A. or M.S., in Mathematics is required
• Preferred: experience teaching mathematics at the college level
• Preferred: excellent communication skills and a strong desire to support students transitioning from high school to college
• Preferred: embrace the use of technology in teaching and maintain high standards in classroom instruction, management, and assessment

Pay

• Instructor: $59,481
• Assistant Professor: $65,526
• Associate Professor: $72,032
• Rank will be assessed at the time of hire based on years of experience and education according to pre-determined criteria
