About the role
Malcolm X College is seeking a Full-Time English Faculty member who can inspire and guide students through their academic journey.
Responsibilities
- Create courses aligned with learning outcomes to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse students and encourages critical thinking.
- Evaluate student progress through various assessments and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve educational practices and support student success.
- Contribute to the college’s academic community and promote a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in English Language and Literature or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in English, Literature, Creative Writing, or Composition/Rhetoric preferred.
- Experience with a diverse student population and a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Two to three years of teaching experience at the college level preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of staff and students.
- Experience with scholarship work, publications, committee work, and other relevant professional activities.
Skills
- Effective teaching strategies that meet diverse student needs.
- Discipline-specific thinking strategies for promoting critical and creative thinking.
- Ability to foster a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Leadership and collaborative skills in academic and professional communities.
