About the role
The Instructor Pilot at CAE is responsible for delivering high-quality flight simulator and ground school training, acting as a subject matter expert, and maintaining professional, safe, and instructional excellence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver simulator and classroom instruction on assigned aircraft types for licenses, type ratings, certificates, and pilot qualifications.
- Conduct thorough and professional pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in accordance with CAE standards.
- Maintain accurate training records, track instructional qualifications, and recommend remedial training when required.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in the development and maintenance of curricula and courseware when needed.
- Provide a professional, welcoming learning environment while delivering consistent, customer-focused training.
Requirements
- Hold, or meet qualifications to obtain, an unrestricted ATP certificate and a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Strong passion for teaching with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other internet-based applications.
- Must participate in CAE’s DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
- Must be authorized to live and work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
- Physical dexterity to perform tasks requiring hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Ability to sit in a confined space for 4–6 hours at a time with limited breaks.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours) with limited breaks.
- Ability to sit, stoop, climb, twist, and turn as required for simulator instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience flying business aircraft and single pilot.
- Prior instructional or training experience.
- Demonstrated ability to tailor instruction to a diverse, global customer base.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records in compliance with CAE and FAA requirements.
