Full-Time Custodian

About the Role

A custodian responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and safety of school buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other areas to meet district standards.
• Maintain floors, rugs, furniture, walls, windows, and fixtures through cleaning, waxing, and repairs.
• Ensure building security by checking and securing premises at shift start and end.
• Assist with setup for meetings and events, including moving furniture and equipment.
• Perform groundskeeping tasks, snow removal, and debris clearance.
• Receive deliveries, distribute supplies, and support recycling efforts.
• Conduct minor repairs and cleaning tasks during school vacations.
• Support visitors and staff during events and perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to follow work orders and coordinate with staff.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Experience with cleaning and maintenance equipment such as brooms, buffers, and snow blowers.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, chemical handling, and proper use of tools.
• Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license or own transportation.
• Ability to work safely with chemicals, lift and perform physical tasks, and establish cooperative relationships with staff and students.
