Full-time Cook

Building Location: St Josephs Medical Center, Department 4009820 – Nutrition Services (SJMC).

About the role

This position provides high quality appealing and nutritious foods to customers through food service through large and small scale cooking, baking, and basic food preparation, general cleaning and stocking of food services areas. Properly uses and cares for institutional food service equipment. Strictly adheres to infection control guidelines during food handling to prevent food contamination. Carefully follows Dietary recipes, guidelines, and departmental policies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food using large‑scale and small‑scale methods, including baking.
• Perform basic food preparation, general cleaning, and stocking of food service areas.
• Operate and maintain institutional food service equipment properly.
• Follow infection control guidelines to prevent food contamination.
• Adhere to dietary recipes, guidelines, and departmental policies.

Requirements

• Experience in kitchen preparation and cooking, quantity food cooking, or work in an institutional food services department is preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer (Solvay Hospice House only).
