About the role
This position combines customer service with in-store logistics and delivery operations to ensure a seamless experience for Lowe’s customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe’s customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
- Proactively engage customers to understand their needs and assist with locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
- Respond knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions, including walking customers through projects when necessary.
- Demonstrate appreciation to customers and communicate information about stock, special orders, feature benefits, applications, and warranties.
- Contact customers regarding delivery or coordinate with truck drivers to ensure timely communication.
- Plan delivery activities, print loading tickets, and deliver merchandise on schedule to ensure on-time delivery.
- Pull merchandise, build and band delivery loads, and load trucks within payload capacity according to delivery orders.
- Inspect the condition of products (e.g., appliances) before loading for delivery or assisting customers with loading.
- Match items on invoices with quantities loaded by verifying descriptions, items, and model numbers.
- Ensure loads are safe, secure, and compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Update delivery and route status (e.g., on-site, completed) on systems such as iPhone for tracking purposes.
- Unload, install, and test appliances upon delivery.
- Verify daily vehicle inspections, report issues, and ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs for delivery vehicles and equipment (e.g., lift gates).
- Complete DOT reporting to maintain DOT certification and CDL compliance.
- Detect and report signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks to management or Asset Protection.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas through compliance with housekeeping standards (e.g., Zone Recovery).
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment by conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates.
- Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties, including top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, using aisle blockers, tether lines on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices.
- Operate store equipment as needed, such as Zebra phones, computers, CCTV systems, key cutters, panel saws, paint mixers, flooring cutters, and compactors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Class A CDL License (required for locations with multi-unit CMV, such as tractor trailers and flatbeds) or Class B CDL License (required for locations with single-unit CMV, such as tandem flatbeds; air brake endorsement required).
- Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment.
- Ability to pass an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) screen in accordance with company requirements.
- Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations.
Preferences
- 1 year of experience driving a semi-truck/trailer or certification from a driving school.
- 6 months of experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service.
- 3 months of experience operating a forklift or Moffett for onloading/offloading a vehicle.
