About the role

This position combines customer service with in-home delivery of appliances and other large merchandise. Associates are responsible for safe, on-time delivery, installation, and testing of products, as well as maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and store safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe’s customer service policies, assisting customers with needs, and answering questions knowledgeably.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Communicate product details, including stock availability, special orders, features, benefits, applications, and warranty information.
  • Coordinate and confirm delivery details with customers, including calling ahead to confirm delivery times.
  • Plan and execute delivery activities, including printing loading tickets, pulling merchandise, building and banding loads, and loading trucks within payload limits.
  • Inspect products (e.g., appliances) before loading for delivery or assisting customers with loading.
  • Ensure loads are safe, secure, and compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Update delivery and route status using systems like iPhone for tracking purposes.
  • Unload, install, and test appliances upon delivery.
  • Verify daily vehicle inspections, report issues, and ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs of delivery vehicles and equipment (e.g., lift gates).
  • Complete DOT reporting to maintain certification and CDL compliance.
  • Monitor and report signs of shoplifting, theft, or security risks to management or Asset Protection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and work areas through housekeeping standards (e.g., Zone Recovery).
  • Ensure a safe work environment by conducting safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, using aisle blockers, tether lines, spotters, and safety devices.
  • Operate store equipment as needed, such as Zebra phones, computers, CCTV systems, key cutters, panel saws, paint mixers, flooring cutters, and compactors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License (required for locations with multi-unit CMV, such as tractor trailers and flatbeds) or Class B CDL License (required for locations with single-unit CMV, such as tandem flatbeds; air brake endorsement required).
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment.
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screen according to company requirements.
  • Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience driving a semi-truck/trailer or certification from a driving school.
  • 6 months of experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service.
  • 3 months of experience operating a forklift or Moffett for onloading/offloading vehicles.
