Full Time Autism Aid

About the role

This rewarding opportunity offers a competitive wage of $18.40–$23.31/hour and the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of preschool-aged children with autism. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you'll help implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices in a structured, supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to preschool-aged children with autism in both one-on-one and classroom settings.
• Aid in implementing individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
• Support the development of communication, social, behavioral, and self-help skills through structured daily activities.
• Utilize visual supports, picture schedules (TEACCH), Social Stories, PECS, sign language, and other alternative communication methods.
• Encourage positive behaviors while helping children successfully navigate transitions and changes in routine.
• Monitor, document, and communicate children's progress with therapists, teachers, and other members of the treatment team.
• Collaborate with educators and clinicians from Wasatch Behavioral Health and partnering school districts to support each child's success.
• Prepare classroom materials and assist with maintaining an organized, safe, and engaging learning environment.
• Model patience, empathy, and positive interactions while supporting children through daily routines and therapeutic activities.
• Foster independence and confidence by celebrating milestones and encouraging each child's unique strengths.
• Build meaningful relationships with children and their families while contributing to a collaborative, mission-driven team dedicated to helping every child thrive.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma AND two (2) years of relevant college coursework (Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or related field).
• One (1) year of experience as an Autism Aide I OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Patience, empathy, and professionalism when working with young children.
• Ability to follow established guidelines and adapt to changing needs.
• Experience with children or individuals with special needs preferred.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
