About the role
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves promoting a sales culture, providing excellent guest service, and supervising store associates.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with meeting gaming needs, inform about special promotions, recommend additional items, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop.
- Support the total shopping environment: maintain cleanliness, organize merchandise, and promote GameStop’s guest benefits.
- Process guest purchases/returns accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
- Respond to guest inquiries and escalate issues to the Store Manager.
- Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits and train associates on company policies and procedures.
- Schedule and supervise associates, ensuring optimal guest service and meeting sales and profit goals.
- Ensure store cleanliness, inventory accuracy, and compliance with opening/closing procedures.
- Perform administrative duties such as inventory counts, bank deposits, and defectives/recalls processing.
- Maintain store records and assist in safety inspections.
Qualifications
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Ability to stand and move throughout the store for up to 12 hours per day, perform physical tasks, and understand military ranks and insignia (if applicable).
