About the role

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves promoting a sales culture, developing individualized solutions for guests, and providing outstanding guest service experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with meeting gaming needs, inform about special promotions, recommend additional items, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, answer phone calls promptly and professionally, and escalate customer issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in programs, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
  • Achieve objectives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, work independently and within a team, meet associate performance expectations, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy, and maintain awareness of associate and guest safety.
  • Perform store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and move products from the stock room to the front of the store.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals correctly and accurately in the POS system, and ensure store has sufficient cash and change for sales transactions.
  • Communicate any concerns or issues to the Store Manager and assist in maintaining store records/files in a neat and organized manner.

Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
