About the role
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves promoting a sales culture, providing guest service, managing staff, and ensuring the store runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote GameStop’s guest benefits.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual merchandising and operational elements.
- Process guest purchases/returns accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
- Respond to guest inquiries and escalate issues to the Store Manager.
- Achieve sales, profit, and shrink goals by managing staffing levels and ensuring optimal guest service.
- Ensure store cleanliness and organize merchandise according to company guidelines.
- Manage inventory, fulfill orders, and maintain store records.
- Perform store inventory counts, stock merchandise, and handle defective items.
- Communicate store safety concerns and address potential hazards.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Able to work alone, stand and move throughout the store, bend, stoop, crouch, stretch, reach, lift up to 30 lbs., and utilize other basic fine and gross motor skills.
Pay
$17.75 - $21.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
