About the role
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves promoting a sales culture, providing guest service, managing staff, and ensuring the store runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote special promotions.
- Support the total shopping environment: maintain cleanliness, organize merchandise, and fulfill Omni-Channel orders.
- Process guest purchases/returns accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
- Respond to guest issues and escalate problems to the Store Manager.
- Promote GameStop’s guest benefits and train store associates.
- Schedule and supervise store associates, ensuring optimal guest service and meeting sales goals.
- Approve payroll, handle time off requests, and ensure accurate inventory counts and bank deposits.
- Maintain store cleanliness and ensure all fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Manage associate and guest safety, report injuries, and adhere to opening/closing procedures.
- Perform administrative duties and execute financial tasks according to company policy.
Qualifications
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
