About the role

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves developing and promoting a sales culture, ensuring a clean and organized shopping environment, and supervising store associates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote special promotions.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual merchandising, sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
  • Respond to guest comments/complaints professionally and escalate issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
  • Promote GameStop’s guest benefits and train associates on company policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and supervise store associates, ensuring optimal guest service and meeting sales and profit goals.
  • Ensure store cleanliness, organize merchandise, and fulfill Omni-Channel orders.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Communicate concerns and address safety issues promptly.
  • Perform administrative duties, maintain records, and assist in inventory counts.

Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Constructive management of pressure and adaptability to stressful situations.
  • Ability to stand, move, bend, stoop, crouch, stretch, reach, lift up to 30 lbs., and perform other basic fine and gross motor skills.
