About the role

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves developing and promoting a sales culture, providing guest service, and supervising store associates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote special promotions.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and promote GameStop’s guest benefits.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately, ensuring top-notch guest service.
  • Respond to guest issues and escalate complaints to the Store Manager.
  • Achieve sales, profit, and shrink goals by managing staff, fulfilling orders, and maintaining store cleanliness.
  • Perform administrative duties such as inventory counts, bank deposits, and defectives/recalls processing.
  • Ensure store safety and report injuries promptly.

Requirements

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

  • Possess an outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.
  • Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Work independently and within a team to perform all tasks as assigned and in a timely manner.
  • Meet associate performance expectations, including attendance, personal appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.
  • Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system.
  • Complete required paperwork properly.
  • Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy.
  • Be available for a minimum of 3 days/week and work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Constructively manage pressure and adapt to stressful situations without impacting guest interactions; be creative and a problem solver.
  • Able to work alone and perform physical tasks such as standing, moving, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting up to 30 lbs., and utilizing fine and gross motor skills.
  • Have a working understanding of military ranks and related insignia (only applies to positions in stores located on military bases).

Pay
