About the role
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves developing and promoting a sales culture, ensuring a clean and organized shopping environment, and supervising store associates.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote special promotions.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual merchandising and operational elements, and promote GameStop’s guest benefits.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately, maintain cleanliness and organization, and fulfill Omni-Channel orders.
- Schedule and supervise store associates, ensuring optimal guest service and meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals.
- Manage payroll, handle inventory, and maintain store records.
- Communicate with the Store Manager on unsatisfactory performance and address potential safety hazards.
Requirements
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
Qualifications
- Possess an outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.
- Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication and listening skills.
- Work independently and within a team to perform all tasks as assigned and in a timely manner.
- Able to work alone, stand and move throughout the store, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Constructively manage pressure and adapt to stressful situations without impacting guest interactions.
- Able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Skills
- Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
- Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system.
- Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Complete required paperwork properly.
- Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy.
- Be reliable and trustworthy; always use good judgment.
