About the role
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves developing and promoting a sales culture, ensuring a clean and organized shopping environment, and supervising store associates.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote special promotions.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual merchandising and operational elements.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately and efficiently.
- Respond to guest inquiries and escalate issues to the Store Manager.
- Promote GameStop’s guest benefits and train associates on company policies and procedures.
- Schedule and supervise store associates, ensuring optimal guest service and meeting sales and profit targets.
- Manage payroll, inventory, and store records, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Perform store inventory counts, stock merchandise, and handle defective or recalled items.
- Communicate with the Store Manager and support the team in achieving sales and profit goals.
Qualifications
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Stand and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 12 hours per day.
- Bend, stoop, crouch, stretch, reach with arms/hands, climb on ladders, lift merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Work onboarding a working understanding of military ranks and related insignia (applies only to positions in stores located on military bases).
