About the role

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The position involves promoting a sales culture, providing guest service, managing staff, and ensuring the store runs smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns, assist with video gaming needs, and promote special promotions.
  • Support the total shopping environment: maintain cleanliness, organize merchandise, and fulfill Omni-Channel orders.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately and efficiently using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and escalate issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
  • Promote GameStop’s guest benefits and train store associates in all aspects of their job responsibilities.
  • Schedule and supervise store associates, ensuring optimal guest service and meeting sales and profit goals.
  • Ensure store records and files are maintained in a neat and organized manner.
  • Maintain store safety and report any injuries promptly.
  • Perform store inventory counts, stock merchandise, and handle defectives/recalls.

Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
  • Constructive management of pressure and adaptability to stressful situations.
  • Able to stand and move throughout the store for up to 12 hours per day, perform physical tasks, and maintain a working understanding of military ranks and related insignia (if applicable).
